Before diving into the data, we start with a few baseline assumptions. The following visualizations will help us test whether these hypotheses are true or false.
- There is no significant difference in KCSE participation rates between male and female candidates across counties.
- The age group distribution among KCSE candidates is consistent across all counties and regions.
- All counties and regions have similar KCSE participation rates relative to their school-aged populations.
- KCSE candidature trends (including overall numbers, gender balance, and age groups) have remained constant between 2020 and 2024.
- There is no significant difference between the number of candidates registered and those who actually sat for the KCSE exam across counties.
